Food For Thought...
Several years ago a white man, an animal activist, climbed a towering redwood tree in the Oregon forest to protest and prevent lumber companies from cutting down more redwood trees that the endangered spotted owl inhabits. His committed activism led to the reduction of redwood trees being cut down. Do we have similar Black male activists committed to saving and preserving endangered young Black men? Do we have committed Black male activists who would lie down in the street in front of the White House, halting traffic to get the federal government’s attention to immediately address the plight of endangered Black male youth?

Agape Women for Black Men and Boys was founded September 21, 2009. We are a small grass-roots organization and our focus is helping to secure a brighter future for black men and boys. For this group of women, it is not enough to just discuss the issues facing black men and boys in the United States and in Western Society, but we know that we must do something to help eliminate them. We dedicate ourselves to fighting against the the crisis facing Black men and boys which reflects a cycle of systemic disempowerment in five interconnected areas: education, employment, criminal justice, engaged fatherhood and health.
We dedicate ourselves to helping to develop strategies that will improve the lives of Black men and boys. We have realized that black men seem to always be first to drop out of school, last to get a job or become employed, first to get arrested, last to find a lawyer, first to die, last to see a doctor, first to be hated, last to be shown love, first to be homeless, last to get a house. Black men face oppression, injustice, negative stereotyping, inequality, less than adequate health care, police brutality, and racism more than any other group on the face of the earth.
We realize that we are embroiled in an outright war and we must fight alongside our men and not against them in order to assure their survival as well as our own. Although Black men and boys continue to face enormous odds and disparities across just about every measurable sector of society, we are working to bring these issues to the forefront, make everyone aware, and find solutions through leadership, a spirit of change and literal footwork to make a difference and a marked change.
We welcome you to join us in this important mission!
